TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's ambassador to
the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
met with the organization's tourism specialist to discuss cultural and
tourism cooperation.
Iran's permanent delegate to UNESCO
Mohammad Reza Majidi met with UNESCO program specialist in sustainable tourism,
Herve Barre, on the sidelines of Iran's cultural week in UNESCO to review
developments in the country's tourism industry.
According to press tv, Majidi said he believed that a "cultural
bridge" between Iran and the Near East could strengthen the cultural,
historical and tourism ties between the countries in the region and asked for
UNESCO's cooperation in such an endeavor.
Barre said that UNESCO can propose cultural and tourism measures to improve the
tourism industry.
In the meeting, the UNESCO tourism specialist announced the organization's
program for sustainable tourism, which aims to reduce the negative impact of
tourism on historical sites.
