During the phone call, Bahrain's Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and his Iranian counterpart Manouchehr Mottaki also exchanged views about political efforts aimed at sparing the region the specter of violence and escalation.

The two sides stressed the need to consolidate security and stability and step up diplomatic efforts to avert any calamities in the region.
